Snack & Learns

are virtual political education spaces where we snack and learn how to build toward a more just world through media and movement-building.

Virtual Movement Journalism 101 Training

introduces participants to the field of movement journalism and what it looks like in theory and practice. Participants learn how media has been used historically and present-day to shed light on underreported social justice issues and to transform the root causes of oppression.

Movement Broadcasting Intensive: Creating Audio & Video for Collective Liberation

In October and November 2023, Press On is co-hosting a virtual Movement Broadcasting Intensive: Creating Audio & Video for Collective Liberation along with Migrant Roots Media and Interrupting Criminalization. We will be accepting applications here until Tuesday, August 15.

This 12-session practical intensive will cover root cause analysis, interviewing and field recording 101, audio production, video production, scripting, promotion and distribution, legal considerations, journalistic/documentary ethics, grassroots fundraising for broadcast media, and provide opportunities for networking, relationship-building and strategy. It is designed for grassroots organizers and media makers at the frontlines of abolition and transformative justice, immigrant justice, and Southern movement building with a variety of skill levels, but a clear idea for a project they want to work on whether it’s an oral history, an interview series, a show or outlet, a social media campaign, or reporting live from protests or events.
